I need help choosing a lens size for my camera.
|
If your video observation camera uses interchangeable lenses, you have a great deal of flexibility in what your camera can see from wide-angle to close-up, but you may need some help selecting the proper lens for your application. For help selecting the right lens to best suit your needs view the following charts:
| Example |
| Say a convenience store is trying to read a license plate at a fuel pump 100 ft away. You'd need a 75mm lens to make the license plate readable. |

About Channels
|
| When you see the word channel, think of a single video feed. Single channel DVRs are equipped to record a single video feed, or one video out feed from a monitor. On monitors with quad displays, where the cameras connect directly to the monitor, a DVR will record what is viewed on screen. If your monitor is set to view one image, the DVRs recording will reflect that. If the monitor is set to view all 4 images at once (called quad display), the DVR will still record the entire screen as one big image. Playback is restricted to what was recorded from the monitor. If you want to record 4 camera feeds individually, for more flexible playback options, you would need to connect the cameras directly to a 4 channel DVR (one channel per camera). The video is sent to the monitor for display via a video out connection. This way, when viewing recorded data, you have the flexibility to view a single camera in full screen mode.

BNC or RJ11E?
|
| RJ11E Connectors - RJ11E connectors were designed with simple installation in mind. RJ11E cameras don't require power where the cameras are mounted. This gives you more flexibility with regards to where you locate your cameras. All audio, video, power and alarm data is contained in one cable. The connectors on the ends of the cables are very similar to those that come with common telephone line cables.
BNC Connectors - Most businesses with existing video security systems have BNC type cameras and equipment. BNC connectors are generally less expensive and have been around for a long time so there are more cameras, monitors and recorder options available than with other types of connectors. This gives you more options should you want to expand your CCTV presence in the future. As an added bonus, SecurityandMore BNC equipment can be used with our all-in-one cable, making installation a breeze.
